The Germanische Glaubens-Gemeinschaft (GGG) [Germanic Faith Community] is a heathen religious community registered as association, which was founded in 1907 at the same time as the "Deutsch-religiöse Gemeinschaft" and "Wodangesellschaft" were founded. In the year 1908, the community-own Cult place Hermannstein in Upland was inaugurated. In the year 1913, the two communities united and gave themselves the name it still has to this day. Other communities were added, and the GGG became the heathen community with the most members in Germany and Austria recognized by the state. In all of Europe, the GGG founded national municipalities and agencies. Only under the rule of the National Socialist party was the development of the GGG prevented. Open GGG meetings were forbidden, one of the founders and chairmen of the community, the painter and poet Professor Ludwig Fahrenkrog (1867-1952) received an exhibition prohibition and searches of his house took place. However, after the war there was a new start for the GGG.

In 1952 Fahrenkrogs successor of the now only small GGG, which still had members in the east as well as in the west, became Ludwig Dessel (1905-1992). Dessel saw himself as >administrator of the community< and tried to lead the GGG >in the spirit of Ludwig Fahrenkrog<.

After the death of Ludwig Dessel in 1992, Géza von Neményi (born 1958) became the Allsherjargode. The Allsherjargode together with the counsel of Godi is recognized by the GGG as the highest authority for the interpretation of the faith. The GGG as association is led by a community counsel, which was elected at the Thing, who regulates the interest of the community and is led by the Lagmadr or the Lagkona as a chairperson.

The GGG was founded at a time, when in the country side many heathen customs were still alive and practiced. It is the oldest still surviving heathen religious community.
We would like to remark however, that a folkish group named "Artgemeinschaft" exsits which uses a subtitel similar to our own name. The GGG has nothing to do with this group or it's goals.

Since 1910 our membership magazine, the "Amtliche Anzeiger der GGG" (Official Informer of the GGG), is being published, from 1940 it's name is "Germanen-Glaube" (Germanic-Religion). The magazine is published four times a year and is only free of charge for members of the community: however it can be obtained by the members of the "Circle of Friends of the GGG" for €10.- a year.

Membership

You have the possibility, as long as you do not belong to any other religious community and profess yourself to the heathen faith, to become a member of the GGG. The annual amount is €30.- (life partners and children under 18 years can be accepted without paying contribution). Members can participate free of charge in all meetings of the GGG, with full right to vote at the Allthing. In addition, you receive the member magazine „Germanen-Glaube" (German language only). You can also buy the informational booklets of the Allsherjargode, which describe the heathen faith. Members are also entitled to start GGG local groups when there are no other GGG groups in the area. When you are interested to become a member, you need to request an application form for membership and send it back to us by post completely filled in. If your life partner and/or your children do not belong to other religious communities and should become members in the GGG, then please list these as well on the application form. Children of age must fill out their own requests. The community council of the GGG decides on the admission of a new member and dispatches the membership document. Your membership can end at any time without explanation by sending back the membership document. The annual fee of €30.- will be withdrawn from your bank account by the GGG. The communities bank account (MBS Potsdam, Germany, account No. 3651014613, Blz. 160,500 00) can also be used for donations or you can use our Paypal Donations option, which can be found on the right.

Members outside Germany are to transfer their contributions to the indicated account (IBAN: DE96 1605 0000 3651 0146 13, BIC: WELADED1PMB).

Germanische-Gemeinschaft

For all, who are still members of another religious community (for example a church) we have the "Germanische-Gemeinschaft" (GG) which is part of the GGG or the "Circle of Friends of the GGG". The GG is equal to the GGG (€30.- yearly membership fee), but one does not have the right to vote at the Allthing. Feel free to ask us for a Membership document.
